Tara silently pushed open the door that she didn’t own from the inside, and snuck out with the bag of expensive things she didn’t own on her back. The alley behind the house was empty. No one saw Tara push the door shut lightly with her heal or spotted her individually crack each knuckle. She glanced back at the house once more, just to savor the moment. She had been able to See that the windows a front door had alarm spells, but not the back door. It was a beginner’s mistake, and one that whoever lived in this house would soon be learning from.
Maybe not too soon though. Tara knew how to leave a room just how she had found it. Besides the missing expensive items—which had been hidden in drawers—and an apple from the kitchen—she had been hungry! Besides, the people who lived in that house weren’t the kind to notice a missing apple; of that, Tara was sure. It could be a few days before they opened the right drawers and saw that their precious items were missing.
Tara paused for a second, then joined the flow of a much more main street. To anyone nearby, she would just look like another person carrying a pack on their back. She looked up to a rooftop, wishing she could be walking on them instead of down here. However, the sun was still not quite below the horizon. At this time, with the buildings beside her, there were plenty of deep shadows to blend into. However, on the roofs, she would be incredibly visible.
Tara paused to re-lace one of her shoes in between two nameless buildings and smiled, content she wouldn’t be caught this evening.

//A member of the Rogue wouldn't know about the Diamond of Death. Dareynn has yet to receive word of Cujo and his operation; we're having a thread with that as soon as Ankhu finishes his bio. The Diamond is well hidden behind (and beneath) a section of houses deep in an untraveled part of the Lower City, and there'd be no way to mark it's spot unless they knew it was there.
Tara can be the person that notifies Dareynn about the Rebels, though, if you want. We still need someone to do that. You can have a couple NPC's talking about it and have her find out that way or something if you wish later in the thread. Then we can start the thread with Dareynn and the prince with Tara telling Dareynn about the Rebellion.//

((That sounds great. I'll edit the post, so Tara will be somewhere near it, though she doesn't know))

[Rosalin:]
I walked quietly through the streets of Lower Corus, looking at the features that were familiar and yet not. I'd been here often enough, but I wasn't used to the city. I much preferred nature. It was so much more calm, so much easier to understand. Here there was little logical order. True, there wasn't much in nature, but it was, again, easier to understand.
I walked past a few men sitting in the street that gave me hungry looks and I quickened my pace. Another reason I disliked the city; there were so many men that would take advantage of you if you weren't careful. I just didn't feel like putting up with a bunch of overly horny men. But I could hear them behind me, and feel them, besides. Wild magic had it's plus side in so many ways.
They weren't going to give up easily, apparently. I heard their pace quicken with mine, and cursed inwardly. I didn't want to have to deal with them tonight, at all. Not when I was barefoot in Lower Corus. I didn't know what I would step on out here; there could be glass just sitting on the road, and if I stepped on it... that could be really bad at this situation. Never the less, I picked up my cloak and started running. I prayed that I wouldn't step on anything.
They picked up speed yet again, and I cursed. I couldn't run too long right now; I was already tired, as it had taken me the entire day just to reach Corus. I needed to rest....
I figured I had no choice but to turn and fight. Still, I couldn't help but run just a little longer, in the hopes that they'd just give up. Most men weren't so persistant; if I started running, in most cases I found that they'd just give up. They were too lazy to deal with it. I turned a dark corner and skidded to a halt, leaning into the building, trying to blend in with the shadows. I scooted quietly farther into the darkness, holding my breath. I heard them run past and let out my breath. That was one less thing I'd have to do tonight. I walked farther into the alley, just to be safe...
I stopped dead when I saw someone. She was kneeling, so I didn't think she'd seen me yet. Oh great, more people. When would this night end? Never? I didn't make any attempt to make my presence known, however; if I could avoid this situation, then I'd avoid it. Otherwise... well, maybe she was a nice person, and she could tell me where I could spend the night tonight. The place I'd stayed at last time I'd been here had mysteriously burned to the ground, and I hadn't come here often enough to know of a second place I could stay.
I waited anxiously, my breath held. What more I'd have to deal with tonight would depend on her.

[((I’m switching to first person.))
My head twitched slightly when I heard the light sound of running, but I continued to finish lacing my shoe. It was no business of mine, for the moment. I was about to straighten up when I heard someone come quickly into the alley I was in. She—I could See that this person was clearly a woman—slowed her pace, but continued breathing hard. I paused. I didn’t think she meant me any harm; I could See her fear and agitation. Probably because this alley wasn’t as empty as she thought.
The breathing quickly stopped. It must be hard for her to hold her breath after running. On a spur of the moment decision, I decided to speak to the mot, show her I mean her no harm. Unless she has a lot of gold on her… I straightened up, not facing in the direction of the mot. “I know you’re there.” I told her. It wasn’t a threatening statement, but just a fact.
After a moment of silence, I turned my face to where I knew she was standing. “Aye, I mean you.” I couldn’t actually see her with my eyes, the shadows concealed her to well; but I could See her and her emotions with my Sight. Now that I looked at her and Saw the bright blue tendrils around her, and realized she had some sort of Gift. I didn’t recognize the pattern the blue made around her, so I assumed she had a kind of Gift I had never seen anyone with before. Odd.

[Rosalin:]
I gazed at her quickly, looking her over; she didn't seem overly threatening, but she also didn't seem very friendly, either. I took my time answering, and she seemed to get impatient.
"Aye, I mean you." I nodded. There was a squirrel on top of one of the buildings, and a flock of birds flying overhead... I checked these without thought, only realizing afterward that it would be a good idea in case something went awry. "So I assumed." I muttered. I didn't know how much information to divulge. She didn't seem like the kind of person that would kill me if I said the wrong thing, but then again, I wasn't sure that a first impression would be logical right now. I doubted she was the kind of person I wanted to ask about a hotel was. I backed up and glanced out onto the street, making sure there was no one lurking around the entrance. I saw the men a few doors down, and quickly ducked back into the shadows. Apparently I wasn't going anywhere for the moment, not until they left at least. I sighed. I could shift, I guess, but that would mean I'd have to shift in front of her, and I'd rather not. I hated shifting in front of people, just because that meant I lost some of the privacy and secretiveness that I enjoyed having in a tight situation, as this might very well turn out to be. "What would your name be?" I asked, through no other reason than to pass the time. I didn't know what to do at this point. If things started going ill, I'd shift and fly with the flock. They'd be glad to take me, they'd told me the moment I'd noticed them. I smiled, a little insincerely. It was to be friendly, nothing more. Not until I knew what she was like.[/blockquote]
